 TOURISM in MONTE SANT'ANGELOThe medieval village of Monte Sant'Angelo is an evocative center situated at 800 meters of altitude. In Monte Sant'Angelo there is the famous Sanctuary of San Michele Archangel that was constructed in the XIII century by Carl I d'Angiò. Its entrance door has clappers in bronze representing some scenes of the old and new testament and crossing the inner rooms, one can approach to the cove of the apparition where there is the altar of the Madonna that dates back to the XI-XII century and a statue representing the Archangel, made by Andrea Sansovino. Of remarkable interest it is also the Castle, than it is introduced with an irregular size and from the glacis one can admire a beatiful panorama that spaces from the Gargano until the gulf of Manfredonia, the Tavoliere of Apulia and the Murge. Very much interesting it is also to visit the tomb of Rotari, for its historical and artistic profile. |
